Agri Managment Academy

What is the Agri Management Academy?

The Agri Management Academy is a two year development programme that matches leading arable and dairy farming operations with the placement of Academy Trainees who have an interest in developing themselves within the arable and dairy industry.

Purpose of the Academy

According to 73% of businesses, the key reason for recruitment difficulties is a lack of necessary specialist skills. The Academy is designed to develop the specialist skills that are required in the arable and dairy sector and ensure individuals are prepared for both the operational and commercial aspects of a management role within this increasingly competitive environment.

Developing the right skills is essential but another key element that the programme will major on is building strong interpersonal and people management skills to enable the Academy Trainees to maximise their personal effectiveness throughout their working life.

Aim of the Academy

The aim of the Academy is on successful completion of the programme Trainees will have the opportunity to gain full time employment within a sponsor business and utilise their management experience as part of the team to drive the business forward.

The Academy places a great deal of emphasis on combining the right work placement for each Academy Trainee and thus creating strong working relationship.

Academy Structure
The two year programme is split into four, six months placements between the farming operations registered with the Academy. This provides the Academy Trainees with exposure to a wide range of business activities working with experienced and dynamic leaders in different sectors of the industry.

The first year provides the general development and core skills required to work within the arable and dairy industries, whilst the second year allows the Academy Trainees to develop the specialist skills for a specific role and or sector.

The Academy will combine a variety of training methods such as:
 external structured courses
 on the job and business coaching
 group training days with fellow academy trainees
 presentations from technical advisers, trade professionals and leading thinkers within the industry
 simulated management exercises

Each Academy Trainee will receive the following:
 A two year placement program – 4 x 6 month placements
 Starting salary of £19,000p/a, raising in stages to £21,000p/a
 H&S and HR inductions for each work placement
 Individual development plan to provide for the training as detailed above
 Quarterly appraisals
